Friendly Fire on a Tank Range

I had a CPT friend in 3ACR back in the early 90s who had an interesting experience in the late 80's as an LT. His Platoon Sergeant, in M60A3s, mistakenly engaged him on a night gunnery range.

The training APDS round scored a center-of-mass hit, penetrated the turret ring, skipped off the breech and tore up through the cupola, ripping it off of the tank. He had seen the shot coming and was dropping down when it hit, so he didn't go with it. He did, however lose one of two testicles to some of the spall, but he was on kid #2 at the time so I figure the docs managed to get the one remaining up and running!
