Battle Drills
Defined as "a collective action rapidly executed without
applying a deliberate decision-making process."
Characteristics of a Battle Drill:
- Standard key series of actions used to deal with specific situations
- Sequential actions that are vital to success in combat or critical to reducing casuallties
- Apply to platoon or smaller units
- Represent mental steps followed for offensive and defensive actions in combat
- Identify key actions that players should implement automatically
- Provide for a smooth transition from one activity to another; for example, from movement to offensive action to defensive action
Note: once battle drills are in effect the unit no longer
maneuvers using the standard movement techniques
